Position Summary The Health, Safety, and Environment Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive range of employee health and safety programs and services to meet the goals and legal obligations of Greco Aluminum Railings. These functions include, but may not be limited to, the assessment, facilitation and evaluation of injury prevention, environmental safety, occupational health and safety, employee and family wellness, and the development, implementation, and consultation on safety policies. This role oversees all Health and Safety activities and provides advice to management and employees.

Responsibilities

•Play an integral role as a business partner responsible for all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental management.

•Champion the process to secure and then maintain COR certification for Greco Aluminum Railings.

•Plan, develop, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and update Greco’s Manufacturing and Construction health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.

•Review occupational health and safety legislation, amendments, and best practices to optimize occupational health and safety programs.

•Actively promote a safety culture through continuous communications, process improvement, relationship building, and organizational leadership.

•Provide all levels of the company with advice related to health and safety matters, legislative requirements, and best practices in the field.

•Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses providing recommendations and process/policy changes to prevent further incidents.

•Collaborate with Human Resources on return to work and modified work programs.

•Develop a matrix for training requirements, ensure all certifications are up to date and roll out new training programs as required.

•Complete Pre-qualifications to review and approve new subcontractors to support the installation of railings.

•Perform site safety audits at regular intervals for active projects sites, and initiate corrective actions as needed.

•Develop tools and resources for site specific safety requirements to support Project Managers.

•Develop and manage internal health and safety audits of the company, including risk assessments.

•Act as Coordinator and member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee, lead JHSC meetings, delegate H&S responsibilities to active members and champion Initiatives to and drive company H&S goals.

•Ensure appropriate PPE and other supplies are identified and available.

•Perform other related duties as required.

Knowledge & Skills

•Comprehensive knowledge of OH&S legislation, workers compensation, and construction industry standards.

•Demonstrated ability to identify and act on safety-related issues, conduct root cause incident investigations and handle both uncomfortable and sensitive situations.

•Ability to communicate professionally, verbally and in writing, with team members and customers.

•Excellent organizational and time management skills.

•Strong ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities.

•Outcome focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyze and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business.

•Strong interpersonal skills; able to interact positively with all levels inside and outside the organization.

Experience

•5+ years of health and safety experience in construction and manufacturing Is required.

•Previous participation in the COR certification process is required.

•Experience using Velocity EHS to track workplace incidents and injuries.

Education

•Degree/diploma in OH&S, Health Safety & Environment Management, Safety Engineering, or a related field.

•Certified COR internal auditor considered a strong asset.

•Certified JHSC member.

•Professional safety designation (CRSP) is considered an asset.

Other Requirements

•Valid class G driver’s license and satisfactory drivers abstract are required.

•Travel between the Windsor facility and major project sites throughout Ontario will be required.
